A DIGITAL STORY - KATE'S BALLOONS

Hello everyone,
In this post, I’ll share my experiences about creating a digital storytelling. First,
What’s digital storytelling?

It is a short story created by combining a recorded narrative with images, animation, video, text and music or other sounds.

For our Technology and Material Design course project, we were supposed to create a digital story with a partner. Azra and I decided to create a fictional story and also we wanted that this project includes some teaching purpose. So, we decided to create a story which  appeals to young learners and we came up with lots of ideas but we didn’t know how to do it. After searching for hours, we decided to use Animaker for this project because we thought animation can be more attractive for young learners.

We chose the characters that fits our story in the Animaker but this program requires upgrade for some parts and this limitated us from some aspects. We designed the scenes according to our story and added some items and a music that program allows us and made the necessary adjustments like walking and talking parts. It took us a while to figure out how to use the program but eventually we discovered it! When the story is ready, we narrated the story by recording our voices in the Microsoft Voice Recorder and added it to our story. In this way, our story that teach young learners to how to count from one to six was completed.

After all, I can say that although making this project took a while and was required some efforts, we are happy to do that. Working collaborativelly made our process more easier and we overcome difficulties together.

🔽 And of course, teachers should support their students to do such project because it is really useful for students and contributes their foreign language development in that it fosters their writing and speaking skills etc.

Thank you, Hande N.
